Horní Lideč sits exactly on the divide between two mountain ranges: the Javorníky rise to the north, the White Carpathians — a UNESCO biosphere reserve famous for its orchid meadows — to the south. The ridge trails offer views over both sides of the Czech–Slovak border.

Pick a route to match your mood: a brisk climb to the hills above the valley, or a full-day ridge walk along the border. In early summer the Carpathian meadows bloom with dozens of orchid species — and even on weekends you'll meet only a handful of hikers.

Marked trails start in Horní Lideč itself, so you can set off straight from the apartment door and leave the car parked all day. Depending on your mood, pick a brisk climb up one of the hills above the valley, or a full-day ridge walk along the Moravian–Slovak border.

The White Carpathians are a UNESCO biosphere reserve largely because of their meadows: at the turn of May and June dozens of orchid species flower here, species that have all but vanished elsewhere in Europe. The Javorníky to the north are more wooded, offering long ridge sections with views into both countries.
