Winter in Wallachia can be a fairy tale. Closest by are the small local ski lifts in nearby villages, ideal for children and beginners. For bigger skiing, head to Kohútka — a resort right on the Javorníky ridge with views over both sides of the border.

Cross-country skiers have dozens of kilometres of trails around: when the snow falls, tracks are groomed along the Javorníky ridges and on the meadows above the valley. And after a day in the snow, nothing beats coming home to a warm apartment.

The nearest small lifts in the surrounding villages are ten to fifteen minutes by car and suit children, beginners and queue-free afternoon skiing. For a bigger resort, people drive to Kohútka on the Javorníky ridge — around half an hour away.

Cross-country skiers have tens of kilometres of trails nearby. When snow falls, tracks are set along the ridges and across the meadows above the valley, and you can walk to some of them from the apartment. Wallachian snow conditions vary a lot from year to year — we'll happily check them for you before you arrive.

And if the snow doesn't come, winter here still earns the trip: the frozen Pulčín icefalls, empty ridge walks and the mechanical nativity scene in the village will fill the days. Skis stay dry in storage at the apartment.
