Right in Horní Lideč stands a unique Czech–Slovak mechanical nativity scene — a joint work of wood carvers from both sides of the border. The sprawling scene with dozens of moving figures captures not only the biblical story but also the traditional crafts, customs and landmarks of Wallachia and the Váh region.

The moving scenes enchant children and adults alike, and a visit takes a pleasant hour — the perfect plan for a rainy afternoon. The betlém is open all year round, not just at Christmas.

The nativity scene stands in Horní Lideč itself, a few minutes' walk from the apartment — the ideal plan when it's raining outside or when you have small children in tow. A visit takes a comfortable hour.
